PDT candidate asks for votes from the undecided and who would only elect Lula to defeat Bolsonaro and vice versa
The PDT presidential candidate, Ciro Gomesused the interview to National Journal this Tuesday (23.Aug.2022) to present their proposals as the only ones capable of changing the country and “free him” what you call polarization “hate” in between Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva (EN) and Jair Bolsonaro (PL).
At the same time that he said he would reassess the terms he uses to attack opponents who lead the polls (“hard” and “offensive”, according to presenter Renata Vasconcellos), Ciro did not give up the strategy of criticizing them in an equivalent way.
said that Brazil “can’t take it anymore” the dispute between the former PT president and the candidate for reelection.
“Bolsonaro is a protest against corruption and the economic crisis that the PT produced. Now, [com] frustration with Bolsonaro, we will go back to the past. Brazil can’t take this anymore”, declared the ex-minister and ex-governor of Ceará.
The pedestrian’s speech in the final minute of the Saturday showed the desired result.
“You, who vote for Bolsonaro because you don’t want Lula back, give me a chance. You, who vote for Lula because you don’t want Bolsonaro anymore, there’s a country to govern, give me a chance. Do you, undecided, know how many you are? More than half of the population. It is in your hands to change Brazil”said Ciro, looking directly at the camera, in his last words on the broadcaster’s news Rede Globo.
Pressed by presenters William Bonner and Renata Vasconcellos about the real feasibility of their proposals becoming reality, the PDT candidate replied that he intends to unite and reconcile the country around his “national development project”.
It sought to reinforce the minimum income program, with an average value of BRL 1,000 for each family that currently lives on less BRL 417 per person, and the intention that a tax on large fortunes of 0.5% on assets of more than BRL $20 million help fund it.
The figure used by Cyrus in this case is that “every super rich” go pay “the dignified life” of 821 of the poorest Brazilians.
In addition to asking for votes from undecided voters and those who vote for Lula or Bolsonaro just to reject their rival, the pedestrian took advantage of the final minute of the Saturday to propose a “antiquency law”.
The idea, presented without details by Ciro, is to limit the interest charged by banks on loans so that any creditor who has paid in installments twice the amount of credit they took has their debt automatically extinguished.
One of the most questioned points of the government plan of the PDT candidate in the National Journal is the proposal for a pact negotiated with Congress, with the support of governors and mayors, to carry out structural reforms in the first 6 months of government.
Also according to Ciro, in the proposals in which the impasse persists after the initial semester of his term, the people would be summoned to vote in plebiscites.
The reference to this type of measure led Renata Vasconcellos to ask how the former minister would avoid risks to representative democracy.
“Looking more at Europe and the United States than at Venezuela. I find the Venezuelan regime abhorrent. My distinction with this South American populism that, unfortunately, the PT replicates is very clear”he responded.
