Officialized as PDT’s presidential candidate, ex-minister says PT never ruled for the poor
In a speech, after being made official this Wednesday (20.Jul.2022) as the PDT candidate for the Presidency, Ciro Gomes called Jair Bolsonaro (PL) of “lazy” and said that the current president “doesn’t work and doesn’t think”.
He also said that former presidents Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva (EN) and Dilma Rousseff (PT), at the head of the country from 2003 to 2016, never ruled for the poor.
“Bolsonaro is the effect of an economic model and a corrupt school of government, which led Brazil with very few highs and very many lows to a tragedy announced in 2018.”, said Cyrus.
Recalling his terms as mayor of Fortaleza (CE) and governor of Ceará and administrations in the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of National Integration, the pedestrian said that he always fought against the financial deficit and the “social deficit”.
The PDT holds its convention on the 1st day of the deadline stipulated by the TSE (Superior Electoral Court). The official name of the candidate, however, does not allow him to ask for a vote now. This can only be done from August 16, when the electoral propaganda period begins.
Profile
Ciro Ferreira Gomes, 64, is running this year for his 4th presidential election with the repeated challenge of selling himself as an alternative to the polarization between Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva (EN) and Jair Bolsonaro (PL) and avoid the flight of voters towards a possible “helpful vote” to try to elect the PT in the 1st round.
With the communication under the command of former PT marketer João Santana, Ciro has defended the vote “2 in 1” on their social networks: “You vote for one and get rid of 2”, he says, in an attempt to distance voters from the polarization between Lula and Bolsonaro.
So far, however, it hasn’t hit the 2-digit mark in voting intentions.
