An amazing start for the Rally di Roma 2021, the appointment of the Italian Rally Championship which started in the early evening today with the Special Stage 0, the 2.72 kilometer ACI Roma Caracalla. An internship designed around the wonderful scenery of the Baths of Caracalla, in the center of the capital.
To get the best fear was Andrea Crugnola. The reigning Italian champion, sailed by Pietro Elia Ometto and at the wheel of the Hyundai i20 R5 New Generation covered almost 3 kilometers of the test in 1’53 “3, just 6 tenths ahead of Giandomenico Basso and Lorenzo’s Skoda Fabia R5 Evo Granaries.
Very limited gaps for everyone, considering the length of the test. It is no coincidence that Craig Breen and Paul Nagle – third in the overall standings – are also 1 “5 behind the leader with the same car. The Hyundai Motorsport driver is at the wheel of an i20 R5 New Generation.
Excellent start for Giacomo Scattolon and Giovanni Bernacchini. The blue crew took their Volkswagen Polo GTI R5 to fourth place, just a tenth of a second slower than Breen.
More distant instead Tommaso Ciuffi, also at the wheel of a Volkswagen Polo GTI R5. The former Italian 2-wheel drive champion is 2 “3 from the top and 2 tenths faster than Marco Signor (Volkswagen Polo GTI R5). Fabio Andolfi is seventh with the second Skoda Fabia R5, one tenth faster than Damiano De Tommaso with the Citroen C3 R5 champion of Italy with Crugnola last year.
The Rally Roma Capitale 2021 will resume tomorrow morning with the Special Stage 1, the Rocca di Cave 1 7.25 kilometers long. The first car will enter the special at 09:53.
