This Saturday, June 18, thousands of people converted Cineplanet trending on Twitter. The controversy arose after the ‘clarification’ that the chain made about content with “gender ideology” in “Lightyear”. Now, a few hours after the chaos that broke out on networks, and after having modified the description of the Pixar film on its website, the company has decided to release an apology statement to the public.

As you remember, the aforementioned animated film was the target of comments for some time, due to censorship protests at Disney itself. In fact, it was recently announced that its release was banned in 14 countries in the Middle East. This is because a specific scene shows a kiss between two women from the supporting cast.
Now, after the commotion it caused in Peru, Cineplanet has finally spoken. “We regret this fact that does not represent our values and culture of diversityequity and inclusion, which we promote as a company, which is why we have withdrawn this message as soon as we identify it, ”reads part of the text.
They also mention that they will continue to implement mechanisms to support inclusion in their spaces: “We will continue to spread and reinforce our policies with the aim of contributing to having a society based on respect and inclusion.” Below is the full statement.
