The first big player to reach the quarter-finals in Cincinnati, the last Masters 1000 before the United States Open, is the Russian Daniil Medvedev. The number 1 seed, winner of the Canadian Open last week in Toronto, overtook Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov with a double 6-3 for the seventh consecutive victory from the setback with Carreno Busta at the Tokyo Games. A game without flaws, managed in the best way in 90 minutes with 7 aces, 2 double faults, 74% of the points won on the first serve and only one break immediately on four break points offered.
