Mazatlan.- They had it. It was theirs… and they let it go. The Venados de Mazatlán had a bad night on Saturday by losing the third playoff match of Cibacopa against Ostioneros de Guaymas 95-92 in the last moments and now they are on the verge of elimination from the contest.
The actions
Determined to play their last bullet, the Venados jumped onto the court with pure offensive style to ensure they were still alive, and it would precisely help them in their intentions.
The Ostioneros were not going to make it easy at all, and despite being down several times, they always returned to the fight. They closed the first quarter with a 24-23 advantage for the locals.
In the second quarter, the intensity of both teams did not drop with Venados scoring three with Jeff Ledbetter in the lead, and great tackles by Xavier White; however, those plays of precise errors arrived, and those from Guaymas managed to turn the match around by two units.
When it seemed that they would go down at halftime, White launched for the right and put the Reds ahead 45-43, who still had hopes on the surface.

The third episode, which was always a thorn in the side of the Venado team, this time told a different story, because despite the fact that the game remained even, the Reds kept up the pace at close range. The score was 69-63 in favor of the Venados before a crazy fourth quarter.
The catastrophe would come with the fourth quarter, since the inaccuracies and fragility in defense made themselves felt again in the Lobodome.
What seemed like a night of victory turned into tragedy and Mazatlán began to miss key plays that ended up weighing on the board; an error that the Ostioneros took full advantage of with the opportune entrance of Cullen Russo, who allowed them to turn around and take an important victory 95-93, just one to get into the semifinals.
