The spectacle of the 45th Rally 1000 Miglia kicked off with the first special stage “Valle Sabbia Dall’Era Valerio”, a short power stage that with its 2.54 kilometers of asphalt awarded the first points for this penultimate round of the Championship Absolute Italian Rally Sparco. The only timed section scheduled for the first day of competition was Andrea Crugnola and Pietro Elia Ometto in a Citroen C3 Rally 2 ahead of all the leaders of the Italian flag in 1’46.4.
Immediately 3 points earned for the Varese player, who thus extends over direct opponents for the title race, in order Damiano De Tommaso and Fabio Andolfi, the only ones still able to compete for the championship victory. The second time in the test was in fact signed with 8 tenths of a second by Stefano Albertini and Danilo Fappani on Skoda Fabia Rally 2, home crew and last winners of the 1000 Miglia. Naturally, the classification of the two-wheel drive cadet category is also balanced, with Fabio Farina and Daniel Pozzi leading the Peugeot 208 Rally4, with an advantage of 3 tenths over the Ford Fiesta of Daniele Campanaro and Irene Porcu. Third Fabrizio Giovanella with Andrea Dresti on another Peugeot 1.2 ” from the top.
First lunge in the 1000 Miglia Rally for Edoardo De Antoni and Martina Musiari in the Italian Junior Rally Absolute Championship. Among the ACI Team Italia crews engaged in the Renault Clio Rally 5, managed by Motorsport Italia and fitted with Pirelli tires, the Paduan immediately appeared in great shape and went on to take the 3 points that allow him to gain the third position in the general classification of the youth series. In the GR Yaris Rally Cup, Thomas Paperini and Simone Fruini are once again making the loud voices, matadors in the previous rounds, who started stronger than all in this fourth race among the Toyota Yaris GR of the R1T 4×4 National class. In the leading trio of the Japanese trophy in second place are Angelo Pucci Grossi and Francesco Cardinali at 2 tenths, better than Tommaso Paleari and Rolando Bozzo at 8 tenths.
An excellent start for Matteo Giordano and Manuela Siragusa, absolute protagonists of this Suzuki Rally Cup and already in the lead also in this penultimate round of the Suzuki Italia mono-brand. The driver from Cuneo showed his desire to close the accounts for the cup and put his Swift Hybrid in the lead, with a margin of 1.9 ” over the twin of the young Igor Iani with Nicola Puliani and 2.2 ” over that of the expert Giorgio Fichera with Samuele Pellegrino.
For today, Saturday 27 August, a vibrant day is expected, probably conditioned by bad weather ready to make the 8 special stages still to be run even more treacherous. The table of distances and times in fact includes a double lap on four different timed sections, from the short “Provaglio Val Sabbia” (10 km – SS2 7:15 am; SS6 2:07 pm), to the “Irma” (14,45 km – PS3 at 8:18, PS7 at 15:10), the “Moerna” (11.18 km – PS4 9:23, PS8 16:15), finally the decisive and longer “Pertiche” (26.10 km – PS5 10.23, SS9 17:15).
The winners of the 1000 Miglia Rally will then be celebrated in the evening on the final podium in Piazzale Arnaldo in Brescia, from 19.01, followed by the arrival in the exclusive closed park set up in the Mille Miglia Museum, where the rally will end. The confrontation for the 2nd Zone Rally Cup will begin, with 57 cars at the start, from Saturday morning and will be divided only along the first three sections “Provaglio Val Sabbia”, “Irma” and “Moerna” to be tackled on both laps in queue to the major race.
