Thor’s beloved star Chris Hemsworthclaimed to be forced to take a break from acting after a delicate diagnosis: it seems, in fact, that he discovered he was genetically predisposed to develop Alzheimer’s disease. The news was revealed to Hemsworth during an episode of Limitless, the National Geographic docuseries in which he stars on the Disney+ platform. Her genes contain two copies of the APOE4 gene, one from each of his parents. This combination leads to an increased risk of Alzheimer’s. The actor decided to take time off for spend time with his familyafter being forced to reevaluate his own “weaknesses” and the risk of getting seriously ill.
In a recent Vanity Fair interviewHemsworth said:
It’s not a gene that will definitely give me Alzheimer’s, but it’s a strong indication. I have not been given the resignation. This triggered in me the desire to take some time off. Since we finished the last show, I’ve completed the things I was signed on to do. After the tour I’m doing, I’ll go home and have a lot of free time. I will be staying with the kids and with my wife.
As the actor himself revealed, he refused to have the scenes removed in which his predisposition to Alzheimer’s is discovered, even after Disney offers to have them removed.
