Several women and girls have accused Wuta of harassment and rape. Police said the young woman who had been the most prominent accuser in the past was seeking publicity with her allegations.
China’s police have said they arrested a Canadian man named Wu on suspicion of rape. The country’s media has identified the detainee as a Canadian-Chinese pop star Kris Wuksi.
Wuta is being investigated for allegations made online that she “cheated young women to have sex with her,” a police bulletin said late Saturday.
The news agency Reuters, for example, reports the arrest.
In July A 19-year-old university student Du Meizhu wrote on the Internet about allegations that Wu had pressured girls into sex by making false promises about a career in music or acting.
He claimed to have been invited to talk about work himself, but instead he was pressured to drink until he was exhausted. Du says Wun Manager eventually took him to the star room where he was raped.
Since then, many others have also accused Wuta of rape and harassment.
Police Du initially announced shortly after the most serious allegations that Du is seeking publicity for his allegations and that some publications have been written by a third party.
In addition, police noted that Wu and Du had sex after drinking alcohol, but did not yet talk about rape.
However, police said they were still investigating other allegations against Wuhu. It is unclear whether the arrest announced late Saturday is linked to allegations made by Dun or someone else.
