Another Chinese city near Beijing imposed a partial closure as the number of Corona injuries rose, in additional precautionary measures even as infections continued to decline nationwide.
And the city of Shijiazhuang, the capital of Hebei Province bordering Beijing, announced that mass checks will be conducted for residents in four major downtown areas, and residents will be required to stay in their homes for three days, starting from two o’clock in the afternoon Sunday.
And the city recorded 25 cases of corona infection, yesterday, Saturday.
Beijing recorded three local cases yesterday, out of a total of 1,294 cases nationwide.
The partial lockdown in Shijiazhuang, home to 11.2 million people, followed restrictions adopted in other areas of Hebei Province.
The city of Quzhou, neighboring Beijing, has imposed a closure since Tuesday, while the Xianji region, near Beijing, has issued a stay-at-home order for its 384,000 residents since Friday.
Shijiazhuang also suspended subway services, halting non-essential business operations in closed areas.
China’s economic slowdown worsened in July, when retail sales, industrial production and investment missed economists’ estimates.
Financial authorities took steps to boost growth after posting weak data. Last week, Chinese state media again defended the country’s increasingly costly and intolerant approach to the outbreak.
The State Council’s Economic Daily said Thursday that the damage to growth in recent times was caused by the disease itself, not by the government’s measures to contain it.
