videoMore than twenty Chihuahuas that were dumped in Geldermalsen last month have seen each other for the first time this week. The dogs are happily frolicking around again and look healthy on video images from Dierenasiel Tiel.
The 24 dogs were found at the beginning of January by a walker on the Zeekade in Geldermalsen. The Chihuahuas were tied to a post and were in bad shape. Some had lost hair and teeth, were very thin or were completely bald. There were even heavily pregnant dogs among them.
Due to the good care of host families and the volunteers of Dierenasiel Tiel, the Chihuahuas have improved considerably in the past month. The entire group has now been castrated or sterilized, vaccinated and checked several times for diseases and other suffering.
This week, the Chihuahuas saw each other again at the animal shelter for the first time. It provided heartwarming images of the cheerful and apparently healthy dogs.
Selection for adoption
The animal shelter in Tiel has now offered the chihuahuas for adoption on the site of the Animal Protection. Interested parties must first complete a questionnaire and are then subjected to a strict selection.
We are looking for owners with patience and experience. “Remember that these dogs can’t do anything yet and are not yet toilet trained,” writes Dierenasiel Tiel on the site.
