The police still do not have certain information about what the substance that was spread in the restaurant of Hotel Torn on Friday was.

WOMAN distributed Helsinki police doubt on Friday evening in the Ateljee bar restaurant of the hotel Torni, an unknown substance, from which three employees of the restaurant developed symptoms. The police said this in their press release on Monday.

The police still do not have certain information about what the substance the woman spread was, because the woman has not been contacted so far. However, a director of investigation has been obtained for the matter by Crista Granroth included samples that are currently being studied.

The police have not commented in more detail on the circumstances under which the potentially life-threatening substance was distributed. However, according to Granroth, it is not, for example, a powdery substance.

Because the substance has not yet had time to be analyzed and the police have not commented in detail on, for example, the way it was spread, so for now it is difficult to assess what the substance might have been.

“Based on this information, it is impossible to say which substance it is,” says the Chief Inspector of the Finnish Safety and Chemicals Agency Tukes Eeva Rissanen.

He does not comment on the case in question, but says that, in general, symptoms can appear very quickly if you are exposed to harmful gas, vapor or aerosol through the respiratory tract.

“Touching a corrosive liquid can also cause immediate unpleasant symptoms,” says Rissanen.

The head of the investigation, Granroth, says that the exposed workers had to see a healthcare professional due to their symptoms.

“One of the criminal titles is aggravated assault, which means that the victim gets some kind of life-threatening condition. I think there is reason to suspect such a preliminary investigation at this stage,” he told HS on Monday.

in Finland it is generally quite difficult to get access to life-threatening chemicals.

According to Rissanen, the most dangerous chemicals are sold for professional use only. Exposure to such a chemical can cause, for example, cancer, genetic damage and reduced fertility.

Some such products may also cause an allergic reaction in the respiratory system or breathing difficulties.

The sale of the most immediately toxic chemicals is regulated by the Chemicals Act and the Retail Sales of Chemicals Regulation, says Rissanen. Such chemicals are immediately toxic or even fatal if exposed to them through the mouth or skin or by inhalation.

Also you can get toxic chemicals from the pharmacy. According to Rissanen, when selling the most toxic chemicals immediately from a pharmacy, the obligation to provide information applies, i.e. the buyer must prove his identity and provide his personal information as well as the name, amount and purpose of the chemical.

“This information is kept for five years. Chemicals may not be sold if there is reason to suspect that it is intended to be acquired for the purpose of intoxication or otherwise misused,” says Rissanen.

However, he points out that it is possible to obtain harmful chemicals from various sources for the purpose of abuse or to mix them yourself.
