The ruling United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV) said this Monday that “there is not a single possibility” that a person disqualified from holding elected office will be “enabled to participate” in the 2024 presidential elections, after María Corina Machado, on which this type of sanction weighs, will sweep the opposition primaries on Sunday.

“There is not a single possibility, but not one, not one, not even a half, not even a 0.2 (%), not a 0.1 (%), possibility that a person who is uninhabited can be enabled to participate in a presidential election,” said the first vice president of the party and number two of Chavismo, Diosdado Cabello.
In the primaries, Machado obtained 93.13 percent of the votes, according to the first official bulletin, based on 26.06 percent of the votes counted, making him the opposition’s favorite to confront Chavismo in the presidential electionsto which she hopes to appear despite being disqualified from doing so.
Without giving a name, Cabello said this Sunday that the “lady”, under “no circumstances, will not go” to the presidential elections, scheduled for the second half of next year.

The official deputy, who from the beginning of the primary process had insisted that they were not going to be held, assured that the internal elections were an “electoral fraud” that “attacks true democracy” and that he will “end the traditional” opposition parties. Machado assured this Monday that he will remove President Nicolás Maduro from power in 2024, and She said she was prepared to overthrow “obstacles”, “abuses” and adverse “forecasts”.

Last July, the Comptroller’s Office indicated that the disqualification imposed on Machado in 2015, which at the time was said to last one year, will be extended until 2030, so the former deputy will not be able to hold elected positions, unless the sanction be lifted up.
