The vice president of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV) and number two of Chavismo, Diosdado Cabello, on Monday (18) blamed “American imperialism” for Sunday’s “attack” against a gas pipeline operated by the state oil company PDVSA in east of the country.
“This is part of the policy of American imperialism, the attack on our oil facilities, bringing here mercenaries, some detained, others tried for attempted coups and assassinations in our country, sent by the US government”, accused the politician at a press conference.
This “attack” was denounced on Sunday by the Venezuelan Oil Minister, Tareck el Aissami, who indicated that Venezuela was working to “put out the fire caused by this criminal action”, as well as to “regulate the service of this infrastructure”.
Cabello assured that “every attack” against the oil and electrical installations “will be responded to” by the security forces, and recalled that the authorities captured at least two Americans in the country’s oil refineries who were going to “attack the installations”, although he did not give details about the detainees or when these detentions took place.
“We captured, for example, in the refineries, at least two people of American nationality with a plan, a map of the refineries, and here in Venezuela there were sectors of the opposition that demanded the release of these people who would attack the facilities in Venezuela. originates in the USA”, he declared.
