“The missing miners could have run out of oxygen by lunchtime. The self-rescuer systems are designed for six hours, with low-intensity use – a little longer, ”the source explained, noting that more than 12 hours have passed since the accident, and there is still no communication with the missing.
He also added that no air pockets were found in the mine workings.
The incident was reported on the morning of Thursday 25 November. According to preliminary data, the cause of the fire in the mine was the ignition of coal dust – the smoke through the ventilation spread throughout the mine.
There were 285 workers underground, of whom 43 were injured. They were hospitalized, four of them are in serious condition, 39 – mild and moderate. 11 people died. The bodies of three rescuers were later found in the mine.
