Bremen – Chancellor Angela Merkel (CDU) is expected in Bremerhaven next Thursday. It is the Chancellor’s official farewell visit to the state of Bremen. In Seestadt she wants to visit the German Emigration Center (DAH) and sign her name in Bremerhaven’s Golden Book. Merkel is welcomed by Mayor Andreas Bovenschulte and Bremerhaven’s Lord Mayor Melf Grantz (both SPD).
“I am very pleased that the Chancellor is visiting our state again at the end of her 16-year term of office,” said Bovenschulte on Friday. “The fact that she is particularly interested in the emigration center is also an appreciation for the museum, for the many years of dedicated work of all employees there and for the seaside city of Bremerhaven.” (dpa)
