The artificial intelligence tool was developed by Petrobras; agreement that foresees use was signed in 2023
A CGU (Comptroller General of the Union) adopted a software to stripe sensitive data in public documents. The artificial intelligence tool was developed by Petrobras and should be made available to all ministries from July this year.
The solution allows sensitive information to be hidden automatically. The software must contribute to reducing denials of access to information due to the presence of personal data.
The implementation of the tool was informed by the CGU minister, Vinicius Marques de Carvalho, this Wednesday (June 5, 2024) in a hearing at the Chamber’s Financial Inspection Committee. He was invited to provide clarification on the 100-year-old secrecy of government information. His participation was an invitation from the deputies Kim Kataguiri (União Brasil – SP) and Junio Amaral (PL – MG).
The process of concealing sensitive data is questioned by deputies. According to them, the CGU claims “additional work” in the targeting of sensitive information as a justification for denying or delaying the publication of public information in some cases.
The agreement for the use of Petrobras software by CGU was signed in November 2023. The document provides for the transfer of the platform’s source code to the controllership and subsequent expansion to other federative entities. It comes at no cost.
