Cesar Ritter Close the year with good news. The actor is on digital platforms, twice, and the stand-up that he has launched, Papá palayentis, is receiving such a good reception that he already has dates for a venue in Barranco and for the city of Iquitos.
We can currently see it on Prime Video with Busco novia (Daniel Vega) and Las mejores familias (Javier Fuentes-León) and, as if that were not enough, the second plot is also being broadcast in Spain on Movistar Plus and in the United States by HBO Max.
“I am looking for a girlfriend is being well received and I think that this affection is a reward for our work. It is about a fun and family movie, ”he says about the plot based on the journalist’s blog Renato Cisneros, where he alternates with Magdyel Ugaz and the Mexican Vadhir Derbez. “While The Best Families is an interesting black comedy, where they wanted to show, a bit, the bubble in which we live.”
Ritter also hopes to premiere Muertos de risa (Gonzalo Ladines) in 2023, where he gives life to Javi Fuentes, the host of a talk show.
“During the pandemic it has been even harder to make movies, some withdrew from the genre because it costs a lot. It has always been like this. Thanks to this film, where I share credits with Giselita Ponce de León, I discovered stand up because my character uses that genre to heal herself and I ended up falling in love with stand up. I feel that in this film I give my best performance, I don’t know if it will look like that, but I am sorry and it means a lot to me. And now my solo show, which will be on December 3, 10 and 17 at the Teatro Barranco, talks about my life, about what Lalo was, my character from ‘1000 trades’ and what my tumble as a father was like, with my children and, also, a bit of what my life is like with attention deficit disorder (ADHD)”.
—Why do you think that Dead of Laughter marks a before and after in your career?
—The film talks about a leg that works on TV and who has been so exposed that he has left his human side very to the side. And after the death of his father, he begins to realize many things that he could not see. In fact, that film has touched me in a lot of sense because it talks about many issues that have rotated in my head and that it has been very difficult for me to heal and put them in a certain balance. Actually, I’ve been lucky enough to make two great movies.
—Why do you define your stage as a romp?
—I mean it’s the best thing that’s ever happened to me and also because it put everything else in the background. And when that has happened, I have been able to make fun of myself, my profession, my attention deficit. What being a father means to me is a tremendous desire to grow old, to try to improve every day, because in the end we don’t teach with words but with example. So, all that remains is to be the best version of yourself and in the meantime, of course, I’ve made several mistakes and, well, I also tell part of that and laugh about it in Papá palayentis.
—Today it is more common to talk about ADHD. Has it been difficult for you?
—More than difficult, I think that teaching in this country, at least in the 70s or 80s, traditional, little alternative, for me learning that way was very complicated and the theater rather saved me a little, it helped me find the little That. In the one-on-one I also tell my experience with ADHD and I make fun of it and, of course, I put it on the table and say that it has nothing to do with a lesser ability or anything like that, you’re just different.
