Products made with carob pulp are the hallmark of Ceratonia Plus. The company, based in Cartagena de La Palma, is dedicated to the manufacture and sale of syrups made with this fruit that are an ideal natural sweetener, with applications not only in the food industry but also in the pharmaceutical industry. “Products derived from carob are increasingly penetrating the food market as a healthy product, which is why they tend to draw a lot of attention,” explains José María Martínez-Fortun from the company’s management.
In this regard, the company was recently at Salón Gourmets, a fair for the food sector, which it attended with its Ceratonia Plus Black Essence products, with a more intense flavour, and the new Gold Essence, which shares the same preparation, although it incorporates a with which the sweetness is enhanced and at the same time the carob flavor is softened.
All its properties consolidate these two products as a healthy, functional and natural alternative to sugar and enhance it for the food industry as an ingredient to include in their formulations to provide added value to the final product.
These qualities were some of those that Ceratonia Plus was in charge of highlighting at the 35th Salón Gourmets, a meeting that José María Martínez-Fortun values positively, “especially at a time of growth such as the one that this company is experiencing”, which he received in his space numerous visits from customers interested in this product and its added value.
Looking to the future, Ceratonia Plus aims to continue, as the management explains, “showing and projecting our line of products, comparable to that of other natural products (honey, molasses, maple syrup or stevia), but with the difference that it has a low glycemic index, minerals, polyphenols and is a natural source of pinitol”.
