Chihuahua— Following the death of the head of the State Commission on Human Rights (CEDH), Javier González Mocken, the person who will continue in office as interim head of office will be Alejandro Carrasco Talavera, who was already acting as interim head since August 1.
The State Congress will analyze, observing due mourning, the possibility of issuing a new call for the current position in the coming weeks.
Deputy Omar Bazán, president of the Committee on Government and Constitutional Affairs, said that the unfortunate death of the head of the CEDH will force the Political Coordination Board of the State Congress to address the issue.
“We deeply regret the loss of Javier González Mocken. I personally knew him many years ago and his definitive absence from office makes it necessary for Congress to begin to review this circumstance, this vacancy, observing the appropriate mourning to speak about this, to be respectful of all the formalities to bid farewell to the lawyer,” said Bazán Flores.
The PRI member mentioned that the coordinators and representatives of the various political forces will decide whether to carry out a process similar to the last election through which Mocken received the designation.
“We will see if we start a new process to elect the president by agreement of the Jucopo. This will be an issue to be discussed in the coming days to see if there is still enough time in this legislature to issue a call for this forced vacancy,” concluded the legislator.
For its part, the Department of Social Communication of the State Congress, stated that according to the current law, the person appointed by the president of the autonomous constitutional body will be in office.
Currently in office is the person who occupies the next lowest hierarchical level to the president, in this case, Alejandro Carrasco Talavera, who was in charge of Control, Analysis and Evaluation of the CEDH.
It was the late former president of the CEDH, Javier González Mocken, who appointed him to this position, before resigning due to illness on August 1.
