Red Derby
The 2025 MotoGP will see the two most successful and titled riders of the last decade face off, side by side and in the same box: Marc Márquez And Pecco Bagnaia. The dream team put together by Ducati is one of those destined to make history: for years we haven’t seen two such strong and successful drivers – both in the prime of their respective careers, despite being four years apart – sharing the same garage. It will be a fascinating challenge for fans to watch, but also a not exactly a small headache for the red management to handle.
Cecchinello’s opinion
To try to get an idea of what it might mean for a team manager to manage a situation of this type, we interviewed one of the most experienced, authoritative and respected figures in the paddock: Lucio CecchinelloThe founder and boss of the LCR Team spoke exclusively to FormulaPassion.it of what it can mean to have to deal with a duo like that of Bagnaia and Marquez. Starting from a fundamental assumption: a manager always prefers having to manage two very strong riders than having the opposite problem.
“As a manager I can say that I would have made this pair – explained Cecchinello – because I think that the main goal of any team is to be as strong as possible. Being as strong as possible is the first priority, even if you have two cocks in a henhouse. Then obviously you have to manage the cocks, but both Pecco and Marc are two great professionals and in Ducati they have incredible experience, they are very serious people. Surely there will be moments in which friction will arise, but I expect they will be good at smoothing them out, clarifying them and carrying on the team work”.
Looking at the possible predictions, although it is obviously premature to make them, Cecchinello seems to see how Bagnaia’s favouritethanks above all to his impressive consistency of performance: “Seeing how this championship is going I can say that Bagnaia has reached a level of maturity and feeling with the bike that is truly top notch. Marquez is a phenomenon, he can make the difference, but we know that consistency is not his strong point. He likes to always ride at the limit, sometimes he exaggerates and falls. It will certainly be a fun championship because we could see Marquez climb to the top step of the podium on several occasions, but perhaps some mistakes will penalize him in the standingsI predict that Bagnaia and Marquez will fight for the championship until the end and I see it as difficult for another manufacturer to take over with such a strong Ducati team“, he concluded.
