The fight against the climate crisis is the central challenge of the coming federal government. A CDU politician, however, causes frowns.
Berlin – In a recent survey, the Union is falling dramatically. A piquant finding aside from the Sunday question: According to the RTL / ntv trend barometer *, only 17 percent trust the sister parties to cope with the problems of the Federal Republic. One of the most pressing problems is the climate crisis. The flood disaster in parts of Germany has put the effects of climate change at the center of public awareness.
Now the Union must also present itself as a climate protector before the general election. The CDU member of the Bundestag Jan-Marco Luczak advertises on a current election poster with the slogan: “Our climate. Our responsibility. ”But it is not the little saying that attracts attention. Rather, a video sequence provided by Luczak himself is circulating on Twitter. In addition to the Berliner in focus: a piece of lawn and a sledgehammer.
Luczak hits the grass: CDU politician promotes climate protection – action causes irritation
“My first Wesselmann has been standing since this morning. I also worked a little with myself. Now the election campaign really starts !!! ”, Luczak comments on the recording. You can see a large election poster for the politician being put up. In the background men are working on the struts, in the foreground is Jan-Marco Luczak – and he hits the lawn with a hammer.
Our climate. Our responsibility.

The journalist Andreas Niemann, head of the economy department of Editorial network Germany, expresses what many observers probably think: “I’ve seen it 5 times now and ask myself more each time: What EXACTLY are you doing there, @JM_Luczak?”
The majority of Twitter users use the scene to criticize the policies of the Union. “Hitting the grass with a hammer is exactly the climate competence that you can expect from the CDU”, it says in a comment or “Why do you cut the innocent grass with the hammer?” Others try irony. “I don’t want to talk you into this and it’s completely up to you, of course, but I’ve personally found that it works better with a lawnmower than with a hammer,” writes one user.
Luczak himself initially did not explain his “lend a hand”. Both construction and green spaces are actually part of the CDU’s area of competence: he is not only a deputy member of the committee for construction, housing, urban development and municipalities – he also negotiated the coalition agreement with the SPD in this area in 2018. Most recently, Luczak appeared in the dispute over the distribution of air conditioning costs between tenants and landlords. (aka)
