This Sunday, May 26, the Mexico City registered a temperature of 33.8 degrees Celsius at the Tacubaya Observatorys, setting a new record for this date, according to the National Water Commission (Conagua).
This phenomenon occurs just one day after the Mexican capital experienced its hottest day in recent history, with a mark of 34.7 degrees yesterday, Saturday, May 25.
Increase in temperatures in the Mexican capital
It is worth mentioning that In 2024, a notable increase in temperatures in Mexico City has been recorded. Data from the National Meteorological Service (SMN) reveal that the heat has been overwhelming, with figures that exceed historical records.
On May 25, the capital reached 34.7 degrees Celsius, surpassing the previous record of 34.3 degrees on May 9. Additionally, the Tacubaya Observatory documented extreme temperatures of 34.4 degrees.
These Temperature records add to a pattern of sustained heat that has characterized the climate of Mexico City during the year 2024. According to experts from the National Meteorological System (SMN) and Conagua, this trend could continue during the month of June.
High temperatures can increase the risk of heat stroke, dehydration and other health problems, especially among vulnerable groups such as children, the elderly and people with chronic illnesses.
