CD Projekt Red knows that it is difficult to fully recover the trust of gamers after Cyberpunk 2077 disastrous launchbut still hopes that The Witcher 4, the sequel to Cyberpunk and Hadar have a chance. In an interview granted to Eurogamer on the launch of Cyberpunk and the long path taken by the game to redeem itself, Michał Nowakowski, CEO of CD Projekt, and Paweł Sasko, associate game director, talked about what has been done so far and how much more will be done to convince people that it is safe to be enthusiastic about the firm’s work.
Facts, not words
“None of us thought about what happened in financial terms,” Nowakowski said of Cyberpunk’s post-launch crisis, “but it’s an issue for the future we hoped to build for this company, for its perception among fans This is something that, honestly speaking, we may have lost forever. Sure, some things can be fixed, but a certain way of perceiving the company will probably no longer exist. Is it a good thing or a bad thing? , but it’s a fact.”
Sasko, however, is more optimistic on the matter and believes that Phantom Liberty, the excellent expansion of Cyberpunk 2077, has already done a lot, winning back many players and making them more benevolent towards the studio’s new projects.
“Some of them may never trust us again,” he said, “but that’s the price we have to pay for what happened. But I hope we can actually convince some of them, through the work we’re doing and through the things we’re showing. ” Sasko therefore hopes that these people will be convinced of the company’s good faith when they hear other people speak well of their experiences with CD Projekt Red’s games, namely The Witcher 4, the sequel to Cyberpunk 2077 and Hadar, a new intellectual property.”
According to him, the company just needs to show its work, instead of trying to convince people with words.
