The union announces that it will join the mobilization on July 6 to promote the reactivation of the dialogue
“Only 9 of the 42 sectoral agreements are in force. The remaining 33 are still pending negotiation”, which represents 78.5% of all these agreements, denounced the general secretary of CC OO in the Region, Santiago Navarro, during the assembly held yesterday in the Moneo building, in Murcia, to which was also attended by the Secretary for Trade Union Action and Employment of CC OO of the national direction, Mari Cruz Vicente.
That is why this trade union center announces mobilizations for the second half of the year in order to promote the reactivation of dialogue and negotiating tables. As a starting point, on July 6 there will be a concentration throughout Spain, to which the Region will also join.
Murcia is almost thirty points below the national average, since in most communities half of the collective agreements have already been negotiated. As for the sectors that are showing the most “resistance”, Santiago Navarro pointed to “hospitality, food, private hospitals, sweets, agriculture and road freight transport”. On the other hand, the regional secretary of CC OO stressed that “the only wage increases that workers have had are as a result of the increase in the minimum interprofessional wage.”
Requests to relaunch the pact against the submerged economy and promote the temporary work table
In this regard, Vicente assured that “companies are no longer indebted and can cope with wage increases.” Along the same lines, he assured that “they are charging prices with inflation for their benefit.” In the Region, this salary increase is estimated at an increase of between 2.5% and 3.5%.
Among the issues raised in this CC OO assembly are also the need to reactivate the pact against the underground economy, “which is doing so much damage to the Region”, and also promote the temporary work table. «We are the third autonomy in contracting through ETT. 70% of agri-food employment is managed in this way, which is why it is essential to regulate the hiring of discontinuous permanent employees. If the Government, to which we have addressed on several occasions this year, does not call the table, the social agents will have to do it, “concluded Navarro.
The hotel industry resists
“Hoteliers have been benefiting for 14 years at the expense of the well-being of their workers.” That’s how forceful Santiago Navarro was, who described as “unfortunate” that in the case of this sector the negotiations of labor agreements have been blocked for more than a decade due to “lack of interest from employers.” Faced with this situation, he added that “they cannot pretend to offer precarious jobs and get professionals with guarantees.”
As a possible improvement proposal, he pointed out that “within the collective agreement we should regulate the training of workers in accordance with the SEF. In this way we would train future professionals, while the unemployed who are wishing to enter the labor market in decent conditions find a quality opportunity. If instead of paying below the minimum wage and contributing part-time, decent conditions were offered, I am convinced that there would be plenty of employees for the hotel industry. Perhaps it is time for businessmen in the sector to consider what they are doing wrong.
