The Board will allocate 63 million until 2029 to subsidize the interest on preferential loans subscribed by the owners of 9,808 agricultural holdings in the Community that were affected by drought and other adverse meteorological phenomena in the 2022-2023 campaign, declared exceptional by the autonomous government.
This was stated by the Minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Rural Development, María González Corral, minutes before signing an addendum to the collaboration agreements that the regional Executive maintains with eleven financial entities (Abanca, BBVA, Santander, Caixabank, Caja Viva, Caja Rural de Salamanca, Caja Rural de Soria, Caja Rural de Zamora, Cajamar, Ibercaja and Unicaja) to update the management of aid that, financed with the autonomous government’s own funds, allow “one hundred percent” of interest to be subsidized of the loans that farmers and ranchers requested for a value of 409.5 million to face the damage of the drought.
“An addendum that will allow us to streamline and facilitate the management of the interest subsidy that numerous farms requested last year,” stressed González Corral, who recalled that The amount of the loans requested was between “6,000 and 60,000 euros”.
“What we are doing today with this signature with these financial entities, the possibility of executing the annual payments of these interests in arrears. The farmers and ranchers requested this aid between the end of last year and the beginning of this year and so now, having fulfilled this first year, the interest will be paid annually,” he added, to remember that the order has already been published in the Official Gazette of Castilla y León (Bocyl) and that
The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Rural Development will, therefore, finance the five-year interest bonus, with a first year of voluntary grace period and four constant amortization with a variable rate, up to a maximum of the value of the Euribor as of September 15, 2023 plus a differential of 0.5 percentage points.
The 9,808 beneficiary farms that requested these preferential loans, of between 6,000 and 60,000 euros, have until December 5 to request the return of interest through the procedure established in the call for subsidies available since last October 26, a period that has been extended since, in principle, it was going to end on November 25. This requirement is only formalized this time for the five years of the loan.
Third call
This is the third call made by the Junta de Castilla y León in recent years for this same purpose, after those in 2017, which involved a disbursement of approximately 11 million euros and in which the State participated; and 2019, which had a budget of 14.5 million euros.
“The increase in the amount for this call, greater than double the sum of the previous two, and coming solely from the Autonomous Government’s own funds, as in the case of 2019, is confirmation of the commitment of the Board and of its president, Alfonso Fernández Mañueco, with the agricultural sector of the Community in the face of exceptional situations like those of last year”, indicated the counselor.
The counselor thanked the heads of the collaborating financial entities for their willingness to participate in this initiative and has called on the owners of the beneficiary farms to submit their application as soon as possible, since the deadline ends in just a few days.
