The term of the call to request the aid of the green harvest and restructuring and conversion of the vineyard, which ended today, has been extended until May 5, included, due to the difficulties derived from the electric blackout that have prevented the normal operation of the telematic record.
The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Rural Development has already requested the Ministry on the same afternoon yesterday the expansion of the deadline for these grants, repeated request today and has been attended by the General Directorate of Productions and Agrarian Markets. Both aids are part of the Wine Sector Intervention (ISV) of the Strategic Plan of PAC 2023-27 and are financed by the European Agricultural Guarantee Fund (Feaga).
The green harvest aims Avoid UVA oversupply, thus contributing to balance supply and demand in the wine sector and prevent possible market crises. The aid contemplates two types of economic support for winemakers who choose to carry out the green harvest: a contribution to the costs derived from said operation, with an amount of between 1,000 and 1,200 euros per hectare; and compensation of 50 % for the loss of income, calculated from the average price of the grape and the average performance of the plot in the last three campaigns.
The green harvest –consisting of the total elimination of still immature grapes– It must be done before July 15. It is an exceptional tool that was previously summoned in 2020 and 2023, in response to similar market situations.
On the other hand, the aids for the restructuring and reconversion of vineyards seek to increase the competitiveness of Viñedo’s farms, adapt the cultivation to climatic conditions and do it environmentally more sustainable.
