Exports from Castilla y León rose 16.2 percent in the first nine months of 2022 compared to the same period in 2023 (-0.3 percent in Spain) and reached 14,473.4 million euros, 5 percent of the national total, according to data released by the Ministry of Economy, Commerce and Business. For their part, imports increased by 7.8 percent (1.0 percent less in the rest of the country) to 11,867.8 million euros, 3.8 percent of the total.
In this way, the trade balance of Castilla y León showed a surplus of 2,605.7 million euros (1,445.6 million in the accumulated of 2023) although there are three provinces with a deficit: Valladolid (-546.8 million), Salamanca ( -323.6 million) Ávila (-25.4). For its part, Palencia once again leads the surplus with 1,829.4 million euros, followed by Burgos, with 630.2 million; León, with 424.0 million; Soria, with 305.5 million; Segovia, with 182.5 million, and Zamora, with 130.0 million.
Castilla y León has recorded, specifically, the second highest increase in the country’s exports, after the Canary Islands (18.3 percent), and the increase between January and September is due to the automobile sector, which rose 36.9 percent to 5,460.0 million, followed by the non-chemical semi-manufactured sector (9.4 percent to 2,612.1 million) and food, beverages and tobacco, with 4.2 percent more to 2,482.3 million.
For their part, imports experienced the main increase in the non-chemical semi-manufactured sector (8.7 percent to 1,218.1 million), followed by automotive (4.1 percent to 3,106.2 million) and food, beverages and tobacco, with 0.7 percent more to 1,379.1 million.
These data leave a positive balance in the three sectors: automotive (2,353.8 million), non-chemical semi-manufactures (1,393.9 million) and food, beverages and tobacco (1,103.2 million).
By provinces, Exports have grown cumulatively in six provinces and they have fallen in three: Zamora (-9.6 percent to 242.7 million); Ávila (-7.0 percent to 123.2 million) and León (-4.6 percent to 1,225.4 million).
For its part, the greatest increase in exports between January and September has been registered in Soria, with 49.1 percent more and 646.9 million, followed by Valladolid, with 20.8 percent up to 5,426.3 million ; Palencia, with 37.9 percent and 2,446.4 million; Segovia, with 10.8 percent and 593.4 million; Burgos, with 7.8 percent and 2,982.1 million, and Salamanca, with 2.9 percent and 787.0 million.
On the other hand and according to the same data from the Ministry of Economy, Exports from Castilla y León rose 13.7 percent in September, compared to 1.9 percent more in Spain, up to 1,750.9 million, 5.5 percent of the total. In this case, it is the third best data in the evolution of the country’s exports.
Castilla y León recorded a surplus of 372.7 million euros in September, compared to 217.4 million in the same month of the previous year, with deficits only in Valladolid (-128.1 million) and in Ávila (-0.6 million ) and surplus in the rest led by Soria, with 182.4 million, and Palencia, with 158.0 million. They are followed by León (58.2 million), Burgos (45.0 million), Segovia (26.5 million), Zamora (15.8 million) and Salamanca (15.3 million).
The rebound in exports in September was due to capital goods, which grew by 126.0 percent to 327.1 million, followed by non-chemical semi-manufactures, with 15.0 percent to 299.0 million , and fell in automotive, with 1.9 percent less up to 597.1 million euros.
And by provinces, exports fell in the ninth month of the year in Zamora (-7.9 percent), in Valladolid (-6.3 million) and in Salamanca (-0.2 percent) to 32.8, 619.1 and 72.6 million euros, in each case. And the biggest rebound has occurred in Soria, with 426.5 percent to 223.8 million euros, followed by Segovia (37.5 percent to 75.8 million), Ávila (14.2 percent to 15.6 million), Burgos and Palencia (9.3 percent in both cases and 332.1 and 234.4 million respectively) and León (3.0 percent and 144.8 million).
