The deputy mayor and councilor for Urban Planning, Ana Belén Castejón, announced yesterday that the Cartagena City Council has granted a building permit for the remodeling of the La Rambla shopping center building, in order to reopen it after three years.
“I know that negotiations are already underway to bring DIY, food, a gym, cinemas and also fashion companies, which will be a shock to the economy of Cartagena and to continue working on the growth of the city to the west,” he said. He thus alluded to the company that owns the center, General de Galerías Comercial, owned by the well-known promoter Tomás Olivo. This is also developing the Rambla Plan and plans to build some 1,600 homes in the area.

The works of the shopping center will include the exterior and the interior, will cost 175,000 euros and will last 6 months. “It is very good news. The recovery of this shopping center is an example that Cartagena is already beginning to come out of the crisis”, added Castejón.
