Among the most discussed topics of the summer of 2021 there is undoubtedly the ‘green pass’ issue, destined to become an increasingly indispensable pass not only for those forced to travel frequently, but also for carrying out normal daily activities.
In this situation, certainly not secondary, many Formula 1 insiders have found themselves in a sort of limbo, from which they hope to be able to get out as soon as possible.
Last March the authorities of Bahrain, the country that hosted the pre-season tests and the first 2021 Grand Prix, offered the possibility to get vaccinated to all those who work in the Formula 1 paddock, an opportunity seized on the fly by a ‘high percentage of professionals considering the continuous movements they were preparing to face with the start of the season.
Back in their respective countries of residence, all those who were subjected to the double dose of Pfizer reported the vaccination to the health authorities, but without receiving the green pass like those who had performed the same procedure at home.
“It is a strange situation – commented one of the vaccinated in Bahrain – the various national authorities, not only in Italy, have activated an automatic procedure that is triggered when the first dose is taken, I mean in the country of origin, and at that moment the initiates a series of steps that lead to the issuance of the green pass “.
“In our case, the vaccination was carried out in a foreign country, obviously we communicated it when we returned to the country of origin, and it was also registered. But apparently the procedure is really … difficult! A colleague of a ‘another European nation has undergone a second vaccination in his country to finally be able to have the green pass… ”.
Formula 1 at the moment is still based on the bubble system verified with pads to be carried out before and during the race weekends, a capillary organization that works perfectly, but it cannot be excluded that among the nations that will host the stages of the second half of season there may be a strict request for the green pass to gain access.
To the consequences in work activities are added those related to private life, but at the moment none of the requests to the competent authorities initiated in recent months has led to the resolution of the bureaucratic problem, still leaving many teams and professionals on standby, including in Italy Ferrari and Pirelli.
