Promotion to 2nd RFEF
Albinegros and Murcia overcome the semifinals by a minimum and on Sunday, at the Artés Carrasco, they will face each other for a place in the national final
Cartagena B and Racing Murcia will face each other again in a promotion phase to the fourth category of Spanish football, the Second RFEF. It will be this Sunday (Artés Carrasco, 7:00 p.m.) in a life or death appointment, in which only one of the two will access the grand national final on May 21 and 22, at a venue to be determined. Albinegros and Murcia are only 180 minutes away from the objective, after both, by the minimum, yesterday surpassed their commitments against La Unión (1-0) and UCAM B (1-0), respectively. Pepe Aguilar’s men would go through in the event of a tie in extra time, after finishing second in the regular season.
Perhaps because of that condition, La Unión began the match with more aggressiveness, knowing that any tie left it directly out. All of this ended quickly, when a ball saved from going out of bounds ended up in the power of Cartagena B for Josema to beat Hugo and put his team ahead (1-0). It is the goal number 23 of the Cartagena striker, who was close to practically putting the sentence with the double before the break.
The second half was more even, but the Albinegro subsidiary took over the midfield. The Union rushed in their arrivals, throwing balls far away and without finding a door. Belencoso was able to equalize with a header near the end, but the goalkeeper, Sergio Díaz, saved the goal. Palomeque’s team lost strength in their attacks, while Cartagena B even tried to score the second and close the match. Fair victory of the team that showed more packaging on the field of play.
Just as tight on the scoreboard was the match that inaugurated this promotion phase. Racing Murcia and UCAM B did it, knowing from the day before that they have it tough to climb the virtual relegation of the first team. It was the varsity team that dominated the midfield the most. The first goal came in the 23rd minute, in an oversight of the defense: Zanetti was unmarked, received the ball and, Vaseline, defined in front of the goalkeeper. Racing Murcia showed more skill on the pitch.
After the break the university students tried, but the strength of Racing’s defense was enough to keep a clean sheet. Gabri, Adri González and Miñarro had it clear for Pato’s men. A victory by the minimum and the pass to the final for Racing. The Murcians were already eliminated last season by Cartagena B. Both fought until the end, this year, for second place. Those of Aguilar start with that slight advantage.
