“We expect a difficult autumn, in which further increases are expected for companies, workers and families”
According to data published by the Ministry of Sustainable Infrastructure and Mobility, in August 2022 the Italian car market totaled 71,190 registrations (+ 9.9%) against the 64,767 units registered in August 2021. The volumes recorded in the month are 20% lower than those of August 2020. In the first eight months of 2022, the total volumes amounted to 865,044 units, compared to 1,060,373 registered in January-August 2021, with a decrease of 18.4%. “After closing the first half of the year at -22.7%, with more than 200,000 vehicles registered less than in the first half of 2021, and a recovery in July (-0.8%), the positive sign of August, a month with traditionally low, largely derives, as happened in the previous month, from the comparison with a particularly black August 2021, which had closed with a downward trend of 27.3% “, declares Paolo Scudieri, President of Anfia.
“Good for the two innovations introduced by the government at the beginning of August regarding the eco-bonuswhich are expected in the OJ shortly: the possibility also for leasing and rental companies – driving segments in the orientation towards electric mobility (BEV and PHEV) – to access bonuses and support for the spread of recharging points in condominiums, so as to accelerate the development of private infrastructures, a cornerstone for the spread of electric mobility in Italy. A difficult autumn awaits us, in which further increases are expected for companies, workers and families, with rising energy and gas costs and inflation. We therefore appeal to the current government and all political forces to provide for further compensation measures for expensive energy as soon as possible. Furthermore, for the next government, the hope is that the reconversion plan of the automotive supply chain will continue and that it immediately undertakes to adopt measures for the reconversion of the plants and the requalification of employees, for the attraction of investments in the territory, for supporting research and innovation in new mobility technologies, to stimulate business aggregation and to provide more effective liquidity support ”, adds Scudieri.
