The bus in front of the Glasgow conference underscores the importance of clean energy to reducing carbon emissions, and is owned by Wrightbus, the manufacturer of the world’s first zero hydrogen double-decker bus.
On its Twitter page, the company published a photo of its hydrogen bus, with the comment: “You can see the world’s first double-decker hydrogen bus in the green zone at the United Nations Climate Change Conference.”
Written on the green bus is an inspiring and supportive message for the transition to clean energy in the public transport sector: “Now the bus ride doesn’t cost the earth.”
The company said in a following tweet on its page, Monday: “The bus is the most popular means of public transportation… About 72 percent of buses rely on diesel… If all these buses were converted to zero emissions, they would reduce about 300 million tons of carbon dioxide.” This equates to 85 per cent of the UK’s total CO2 emissions in 2018 (10 per cent of the EU’s total in 2018).
Business has started Glasgow Summit Climate, Sunday, October 31, 2021, as world leaders seek to end global warming.
