With Ombra Racing at the start of the Porsche Carrera Cup Italia 2024 there will not only be Lirim Zendeli, who highlighted himself on his debut yesterday in the collective tests with the third fastest time behind Ten Voorde and Klein.
The Bergamo team will in fact field three 911 GT3 Cups in the entire single-make series. The 25-year-old arriving from single-seaters and who will have the support of the Bergamo Porsche Centre, will be joined in the championship by Oliver “Ollie” Gray and Anthony Imperato.
There was no shortage of talk about both of them in the Imola pits during the shakedown, in which, however, the two were absent. Like Zendeli, Gray will be included in the Rookie ranking, but given the young age of the Briton, 19, he will also take part in the Shcolarship Programme.
In car number 11, supported by the Turin Porsche Centre, “Ollie” has already taken part with Ombra Racing in two race weekends of the Porsche Sprint Challenge Southern Europe, “showing notable determination and a rapid adaptation to the car”, the direct team says by Davide Mazzoleni.
To complete an entirely international line-up, the American Anthony Imperato, already protagonist of the last two Italian races in 2023 and after participating in the entire Southern Europe season, will also enter the Italian single-make series full-time in 2024 with the 911 GT3 Cup number 19.
“It's a totally new and international line-up of drivers – declared Mazzoleni –: having two debutants is an investment for the future but I am convinced that already this year we will have the potential to aim for more than one of the titles up for grabs in the championship. Special thanks to the Turin Porsche Centre, now a historic partner of Ombra, and to the newly arrived Bergamo Porsche Centre: representing the name of our city is an extra push to do well!”
