Shortly before qualifying in which he took pole positions for the two races of the first round of the Porsche Carrera Cup Italia underway in Misano, Larry Ten Voorde was sitting on the asphalt next to the 911 GT3 Cup number 1 by Fulgenzi Racing with great headphones on your ears… and what music came out!
“It’s my way of concentrating on getting to do what I need to do, storing energy and then bringing it out on the track”explains the Dutch ace, who with Fulgenzi Racing was the author of two record times, both obtained at the end with the second set of new Michelins.
The energy that Ten Voorde talks about has really arrived and the pole for race 1 in 1’34″757 (that of race 2 in 1’35″002) represents the new absolute limit for the 911 GT3 Cup model 992 (without Abs) on the Romagna circuit. As well as giving him his first points in the championship.
A performance that came simply by putting everything together after a not so exciting free practice session last night: “Today the car is very good, I’m really happy and I have to congratulate the team, I know how much work we did yesterday to fine-tune everything. It was nice to demonstrate it today on the track. Maybe we would have liked something more for Flynt (Schuring, the young compatriot and teammate who qualified 12th and 14th) and this is because we are one and only team. I firmly believe it can improve. And he will”.
In short, a Saturday that started with a heavy pole position that tonight at 9.00 pm (live on Dazn e www.carreracupitalia.it) will place him ahead of the fierce competition on the race 1 grid: “It’s a very close line-up, even more competitive than last year, it’s a high-level competition and I’m happy to participate in the Carrera Cup Italia again. Now I can’t wait for race 1 to start”.
For which the plan is soon made: “Concentrate, start well and run away…”. Iaquinta, Masters and everyone else permitting…
