The wait leading to the last and decisive round of the Porsche Carrera Cup Italia 2023 is about to end. The key event, with all the titles still to be awarded, is scheduled for Imola next weekend (27-29 October) with the forecast of even over 35 members, a limit already exceeded several times this season.
Among these, several new features are expected, but it is clear that what will catalyze attention is the assignment of the overall title, for which the current leader Larry Ten Voorde is the clear favourite. The Dutch ace is coming off 5 victories in 6 races in the Porsche Italia single-make series and fresh from his third personal title in the Carrera Cup Germany he will attack his first Italian title.
He is followed in the standings by the reigning champion Gianmarco Quaresmini and the 2015 champion Riccardo Agostini for what promises to be not a simple comeback on the current leader but with all the possibilities and unknowns of a final.
Nothing is taken for granted and others can still be part of the decisive challenge, although much will depend on what happens on the intense day of Saturday. However, the weekend kicks off on Friday, dedicated as usual to the free practice session, scheduled from 2.30pm to 3.30pm.
Saturday morning off to qualifying, in a single 40-minute session with green light from 10.00. Also on Saturday, race 1 takes place at 3.20pm. Live TV broadcast on Sky Sport Max (Sky channel 205) is planned.
The final race 2, however, kicks off on Sunday at 12.25pm live on both Sky Sport Max and free-to-air on Cielo (digital terrestrial channel 26). Over the distance of 30 minutes + 1 lap, both races are also available in live streaming in HD on the official website www.carreracupitalia.it. Commentary as always entrusted to the familiar and competent voice of Guido Schittone.
Finally, the appendix of the general program on the track will be the nomination of the young winner of the Porsche Italia Scholarship Program and of the other under 23 to be proposed as a possible wild card for the International Shoot Out in November with the best “nominated” from the Carrera Cups foreign. Appointment in the Porsche hospitality at 2.30pm on Sunday with the engines now turned off.
