Gaspar Noé breaks with his favorite themes to narrate the twilight of life through an elderly couple who collapses after being diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. Meanwhile, at the premieres of French cinema, a political fiction and a musical portrait of French youth. We also went to meet the cartoonist Alberto Montt and the Argentine rocker and tango dancer Daniel Melingo.
We begin our program with what they call “the terrible child of French cinema”, Gaspar Noé, who was born in Argentina. All his films, his monsters as he calls them, have caused a stir and now he is preparing to shake consciences again with his latest work, ‘Vortex’.
The film narrates the twilight of life through an elderly couple who collapses after a diagnosis of Alzheimer’s. ‘Vortex’ is a quiet film, without sex or drugs, as in his previous films. However, it confronts the viewer with the shipwreck of old age. The film stars Françoise Lebrun, Dario Argento and Alex Lutz.
Alberto Montt, “daily dose” of humor and cynicism
Anxiety, fears or simply what happens on a daily basis, but told with drawings, monsters and a lot of humor. This is the work of Alberto Montt. His comic strip compilations, well known in several Latin American countries, have been published in French.
His latest work is dedicated to anxiety, a cunning red monster that ruins our lives. But where Alberto Montt’s humor can be most appreciated is in a blog, Daily Doses, in which he publishes one vignette per day and through which up to 100,000 people pass daily.
Alberto Montt was born in Quito and settled in Chile. But he considers that he could work in any corner of the planet, thanks to technology.
Melingo, 20 years of psychedelic rock and tango
In our musical chronicle we talk with the Argentine Daniel Melingo, who passed through Paris to present his anthology “S’il vous plaît”, which concentrates 20 years of artistic career as a soloist.
Melingo is an emblematic artist of Argentine rock and tango who has operated various miscegenations in his songs, mixing styles and introducing popular rhythms, such as the milonga.
