The absence of Caroline Arias on the roster of the Colombian women’s team, in the match against Ecuador, in the America Cup carried out in the country, generated great uncertainty, until it became known that it was an issue related to his contagion of covid-19.
EL TIEMPO confirmed, with reliable sources from the Colombian Football Federation, that the absence of Arias had to do with that initial contagion of covid-19. The health protocol indicates that, due to this positive, the player had to comply with a seven-day isolation.
When the fifth day of that isolation was completed, the Federation carried out new tests and Arias came out negative, for which the National Team’s medical staff authorized the player to act against Bolivia.
However, when Conmebol realized what had happened, it suspended Carolina’s accreditation, arguing that she had breached health protocols.
Arias, outside
Well, this Wednesday, after it was finalized Colombia’s classification to the semifinal, after beating Chile, the player herself expressed on her social networks that she was out of the tournament.
“With great pain and sadness, I officially communicate that my competitive part in the 2022 Copa América has ended, this is due to the opinion of Conmebol, where I was affected by third-party decisions,” he wrote on Instagram.
“I am certain that the people I was in charge of never acted with bad intentions. For my part, I did my best and worked tirelessly to give my 100% in each match, it is a very short tournament and unfairly I will not be able to play the matches for which I prepared so much,” he added.
“I thank and stressed that I continue to have the support of the Colombian Football Federation, the coaching staff and each of my teammates. I will continue with the team, but outside of the official matches of this event, I will continue to give them joy, work and competition in each I train because that’s what I am. It’s still my dream to be champion of the Copa América and I know we’ll achieve it, from the stands I’ll be cheering, applauding, praying and shouting every goal my team makes. The decision hurts me immensely but this team is still united and firm!” added the footballer.
Arias is one of the most experienced players on the team led by Nelson Abadía. She is 31 years old and was a World Cup player in Canada 2015. She was also part of the team that went to the Rio 2016 Olympics and the one that won gold at the Lima 2019 Pan American Games. In addition, Carolina started in 11 of the 15 preparation matches for the team for the Copa America.
