He will also be the CEO of Stellantis, but he cannot deny that he enjoyed himself in Renault cars. Let’s talk about Carlos Tavaresthe former CEO of the PSA group and today at the head of the multinational that was formed after the merger between the French automotive powerhouse and FCA: the manager is a racing enthusiast, especially rally. And between 1991 and 1994 he enrolled in numerous events with his Renault Clio 16 S Group A.
On July 2, Renault will put this premium car on sale for historical re-enactments and events related to rallies and classic cars, with an estimated value among 60,000 and 100,000 eurosthanks to the event promoted by Le Mans Classic (the great event dedicated to the 24 Hours of Sarthe and vintage cars, organized by Peter Auto) and Artcurial, a well-known auction house. Carlos Tavares he started working for Renault in 1981, and was in service for a long time at the House of Losanga, until 2013 when he became COO, essentially number two behind Carlos Ghosn. The purchase of this Clio and the sale, precisely to the Renault collection, were operations that took place during his stay within the company.
Purchased in February 1991, it was immediately prepared with Group A specifications and colored with a patriotic Renault livery. Tavares entered four rallies of the European championship and two stages of the Trophée Fédéral des Circuits in 1991, also with a class victory. The following year was very good, with other successes in the category. In 1993 Tavares even took part in a world rally in Portugal (home race). The closing, decidedly triumphal, was all for Trophée Fédéral des Circuits, with fourth place overall in the final standings, several absolute podium finishes with attached class victories. The Clio arrived in the Renault collection during 1998, and today it is ready to change owners.
