The tennis player from El Palmar is the protagonist of the promotional video that the Community presented this Thursday at Fitur
Carlos Alcaraz is already an icon. From many things, but from now on also from tourism in the Region of Murcia. The president of the Community, Fernando López Miras, appealed this Thursday at Fitur that “we all be ambassadors of the Region, and that whoever has grown, who lives, who feels or who enjoys this land shares it.” During the commemorative act of the Day of the Region in this International Fair, López Miras stated that “that is what we are going to do this year: tell what the Region is in the first person, and the first to do so will be our illustrious countryman, Carlos Alcaraz , who is from today officially ambassador of this land».
Thus, the tourist promotion video of the Costa Cálida Region of Murcia brand was shown to those attending the event, in which the young tennis player from El Palmar is the protagonist and extols the Region as his origin and his home. López Miras thanked “Carlos Alcaraz’s disposition”, and valued that “he always proudly carries the name of the Region across the five continents”.
The head of the regional Executive defined the Region as a land “diverse, full of vitality, with multiple nuances” and stressed that its activities and main tourist attractions “re-emerge strongly in 2022, the year in which we will once again enjoy all of them and in which we will once again welcome thousands of visitors with whom to share them».
Regarding the forecasts for the influx of visitors, the regional official expressed his conviction that “in 2022 we will surpass in many moments the best records from before the pandemic”, and recalled that “we already did it last August 2021, when we received more tourists than that same month of 2019 ». Specifically, the number of travelers in accommodation grew by 1.9%, while that same comparison showed a decrease of 17% in Spain.
“This is the path and the objective that we must take to each of the indicators, because if 2020 was the year of resistance and 2021 the year of recovery, 2022 will undoubtedly be the year of the consolidation of the Region of Murcia as a outstanding tourist destination”, affirmed López Miras.
In view of this objective, the regional official underlined the importance of the recently announced Strategic Tourism Plan 2022-2032, “which we have drawn up jointly with the entire sector” and which seeks to “receive visitors all year round”. Said Plan articulates 101 measures, with an allocation of 210 million euros.
tourist fortresses
López Miras detailed during the act some of the tourist strengths that the Region is promoting during its participation in Fitur, such as “blue tourism that multiplies the offer of sun and beach with numerous activities; the wide range of cultural and religious tourism; cruise tourism and the new routes from the Juan de la Cierva International Airport, or tourist modalities such as interior, nature, sports, and health and well-being».
Likewise, he highlighted the attractiveness of the tourist offers associated with food and wine, as well as the reinforcement of congress and business tourism, and the growing development of the offer of music festivals, “which have already established themselves among the highlights of the national scene and international”.
