The new business is located on Calle Platería, number 29
Cáritas Diocese of Cartagena expands the presence of the Moda Re- chain in Spain with a new opening in Murcia. The second-hand clothing and accessories trade is located on Calle Platería, number 29. The project is committed to a space for sustainable consumption reusing second-hand goods and, at the same time, favoring the insertion of people at risk of social exclusion from the territory. In addition, the income from the establishment will be used for training and labor inclusion initiatives for vulnerable groups served by Cáritas.
Moda Re- is a business initiative promoted by Cáritas and aimed at promoting the social and solidarity economy through the reuse, recycling and sale of used clothing, with the main objective of generating social and sustainable employment. The store was created with a modern and current image, which wants to break with the stereotypes that are associated with second-hand stores. Currently there is an accompanying technician and twelve people in vulnerable situations working between the stores, the warehouse and the collection service. It is the second store in the Region of Murcia, and the number 108 of Moda Re- in Spain.
It is an important commitment to local commerce and the generation of jobs based on recovery processes. The crisis we are suffering is hitting the most vulnerable groups that we serve hard. People who buy at Moda Re- help these groups to get out of this crisis.
The opening ceremony was chaired by the Bishop and President of Cáritas in the Diocese of Cartagena, José Manuel Lorca Planes; accompanied by the general director of Social Economy and Autonomous Work, Antonio Pasqual del Riquelme; the mayor of Murcia, José Antonio Serrano, and the diocesan management team and representatives of the Cáritas vicarage of Murcia.
