Given the serious situation that DANA has caused in the Valencian regions of Utiel, Requena, Hoya de Buñol l’Horta de Valencia and La Ribera, and in the Albacete town of Letur, Caritas has opened one campaign to respond to emergencies derived from the multiple floods and destruction.
In a brief note, Cáritas Diocesana of Valencia has regretted the death of more than fifty people in that autonomous community and has made itself available to the public administrations for anything they may require. The entity is coordinating with the Valencia City Council in order to support the people who have been housed in L’Alqueria del Basket and in the Pechina Municipal Complex.
Likewise, Cáritas Valencia is working to support parishes in the most affected areas such as La Ribera, the Utiel-Requena region, Hoya de Bunyol and the Metropolitan Area of Valencia, and the affected people. The entity has also suspended all planned activities for these days, especially those for training volunteers and participants that were scheduled for this Thursday and Friday. “Cáritas Valencia will collaborate in everything necessary so that people can regain hope, from closeness and solidarity,” the statement quotes.
“The situation is very complex”

At this time there are six missing people, in whose search the different operations are working. Cáritas is present in Letur through its parish team, providing immediate response to affected people and families, in coordination with emergency services and the City Council.
The director of Cáritas Diocesana of Albacete, Rosa García, has assured that “the situation is very complex, Access to the town is complicated and it is necessary to work in coordination so that all the resources that we can make available to the affected people arrive in the most effective way possible.
