Cardiva is committed to inorganic growth to broaden horizons. The Spanish company, specialized in health technology solutions, has purchased the Portuguese firm Overpharma. The operation, valued at approximately five million euros“represents a decisive step in Cardiva’s international expansion and underlines its commitment to innovation, quality and the medical community and patients in the field of health on an international scale,” say the firm chaired by Ignacio Vega.
With this integration, Cardiva will not only maintain the product portfolio that it already offered to healthcare professionals in Portugal, but will also expand its offering with new specialties, such as traumatology and ophthalmology. “This operation consolidates Cardiva as a leading provider of medical technology for hospitals, clinics and health professionals throughout the Iberian Peninsula.bringing to both countries advanced solutions that boost the quality of care and efficiency in health care,” they add.
This is the second international operation that the Spanish company has undertaken in just over a year. It was in March 2023 when Cardiva reinforced its presence in Italy with the purchase of IQ Medical for 12.6 million euros. The Spanish company, which already had a subsidiary in the transalpine country since 2017, acquired 70% of the Italian company, becoming the majority shareholder. But the company has also reached agreements to strengthen its presence in Spanish territory. . A few months ago Cardiva reached an agreement with Johnson & Johnson to distribute spinal health products in the peninsula. The agreement signed between both entities represents a business for the Spanish company with a sales value of more than 15 million euros, as explained by the director of Cardiva’s Traumatology business, Agustín Canales.
The new purchase that the company has now undertaken in Portugal reinforces all the aforementioned operations of the last year. In fact, Ignacio Vega highlights that Overpharma’s experience in the Portuguese market will help Cardiva’s commercial network have a smoother path towards its buyers. “This acquisition marks a milestone and reaffirms our vision for growth. We want to offer the best healthcare innovation to more customers and in more places, and we are delighted to add Overpharma’s assets and experience on this path. This integration will allow us to strengthen our capabilities response and optimize the services we provide to health centers in Portugal,” highlights Ignacio Vega.
