Mexico’s Interior Ministry said in a statement that President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador underwent a heart catheterization operation on Friday and it was found that he is in good health.
“In this procedure, the president’s heart and arteries were found to be in good health and working properly,” the statement said.
Lopez Obrador, 68, had a serious heart attack in 2013 and recently recovered from his second infection with the Corona virus. The government said the catheterization was performed on the president as part of a six-month checkup.
The medical team said that the recent results indicated the need for a cardiac catheterization, without providing further details about why they performed this 30-minute procedure.
The government said there was “no need for any other kind of intervention” and that Lopez Obrador was “in good health”.
