Blink once and the first half of 2021 is over. Fortunately, car companies are running reasonably well again and the sale of second-hand cars is going well. At the same time, De Bovag lists the sales figures for the first half of 2021. The good news is: car sales in the first half of 2021 are more positive than 2020 – which may not be too difficult.
With 163,173 registered cars, the first half of 2021 will be more than 3 percent higher than 2020. That doesn’t sound like much, but when you hear that more than 34 percent more cars were sold in June 2021 than in June 2020, it paints a more positive picture. . It is still 19 percent less than June 2019, when Corona was only a slightly overpriced beer. In June 2021, no fewer than 124,002 used cars were sold by car companies, which is a record. In the first six months, dealers even sold 685,452 used cars.
Many car manufacturers still struggle with delivery problems of certain models. There is a major chip shortage that prevents many brands from producing as many cars as they would like. That is also one of the reasons why people choose a used one. In addition, many people choose not to use public transport because of the corona measures, but to buy a second-hand car. We can imagine that there are people who waited a while last year, but are now making a purchase.
Skoda Enyaq is going well
The new electric Skoda has not been on sale long enough to conquer the half-year figures, but in June it is in second place. Skoda wore 881 copies of the Enyaq, which puts it just below the Kia Niro, which was registered 1,082 times. A large part of the Niro’s is also electric. The XC40 is in third place, followed by the VW Polo and the Kia Picanto.
Volkswagen narrows to one
The best-selling brand of 2021 so far is Volkswagen. Kia is on the German brand’s heels thanks to the Picanto and the electric Niro. The XC40 also continues to win hearts and is the best-selling model of 2021.
The electric Ford Mustang Mach-E is also going well. Last month, 549 units were added to the total of 1,010 units. Only one normal Mustang was sold. Jeep was able to sell 26 Wranglers last month. According to Bovag’s statistics, only one of the Aiways U5 has been delivered throughout the year. Aston Martin sold no fewer than 10 DBXs in the Netherlands.
