After the tragic boat accident involving the ‘Bayesian’, the investigation is directed against the captain. Explosive photos could shed new light on the case.
Palermo – The public prosecutor’s office has begun investigations into the tragic sinking of the luxury yacht “Bayesian”, in which seven people lost their lives. So far, no definitive cause for the accident has been determined.
After the sinking of the Bayesian – investigations against crew
News agency reports Ansa According to the report, the investigation is directed against the ship’s captain. It is being examined whether he is guilty of negligent homicide and shipwreck. Despite several interviews, no conclusive results have been obtained so far. The captain firmly denies any responsibility for the accident.
The investigators asked themselves why there was a delay of more than half an hour between the sinking of the ship and the launch of the emergency rocket. The communication between the captain and his crew is also the focus of the investigation. It seems that the response to the storm that led to the sinking of the “Bayesian” was too late. While the captain protested his innocence, explosive photos emerged.
Yacht accident: Do pictures prove the crew’s innocence?
Giovanni Costantino, the head of the shipyard, recently made serious accusations against the entire crew of the ship that crashed. In the television program Door to Door he claimed that the accident was due to an “absurd chain of errors”. He blamed the crew for the fact that not all people could be rescued. In his opinion, the crew was “uncoordinated, unprepared and probably distracted”.
Karsten Börner, a captain who was nearby at the time of the accident, told spiegel.de about the accusations against the crew. He also took part in the video conference on the accident and reported that it was claimed that “everything can only be the crew’s fault.” Börner felt cut off when he pointed out errors in the analysis of the accident.
Loud spiegel.de Börner has photos that refute possible errors by the crew. “We were out in our dinghy and went around the Bayesian again. There is a picture from the stern, where you can see that neither the hatch on the port side of the hull nor the stern hatch are open.” According to the shipyard boss, these may not have been closed by the crew. Börner, however, believes that the strong wind was responsible for the capsizing. (rd/dpa)
