Moments after the last chapter of Falcon and the Winter Soldier premiered on Disney+ over a year ago, it was revealed that Captain America 4 was already in development, with Anthony Mackie in the title role. After a long time in silence, It was recently announced that there is already a director for this film.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Julius Onah, recognized by The Cloverfield Paradox Y light upwill be in charge of directing the fourth Captain America film. Unfortunately, at the moment there is no more information about the story and the actors that will appear in this project, beyond Mackie.
When asked about this film, Nate Moore, the producer, mentioned the following on the podcast of comic book:
“I think it’s not Steve Rogers and I think that’s a good thing. Because to me, this new Cap is Rocky. He is going to be the underdog in any situation. He is not a super soldier. He is not a hundred years old. He doesn’t have the Avengers. What about this guy publicly announcing, without support, ‘I’m the new Captain America’?
What happens next? I think he’s fascinating because he’s a boy. He’s a guy with wings and a shield, but he’s a guy. So, we’re going to put him to the test and make him earn it, and see what happens when he’s outweight, out-out, out-everything. What makes someone Captain America? I’m going to argue that he’s not being a super soldier. And I think we’re going to try that with Mackie and Sam Wilson.”
Currently, there is no more information about this project. There is no release date but it is likely that Captain America 4 be part of the fifth phase of the MCU. Along with this, Moore’s statements seem to indicate that this will be a more personal tape for this character, and will not feature the participation of many members of the Avengers.
