Like the previous chapters of the series, too Monster Hunter Wilds will have some lobby for multiplayer where players will be able to meet, organize or even have fun between one mission and another, although in this chapter everything will work in a slightly different way.
The confirmation came from our interview with Ryozo Tsujimoto, Kaname Fujioka and Yuya Tokuda of Capcom, who explained that in Wilds the entire Base Camp within the open world will function as a hub for multiplayer, rather than the classic Gathering Hubs, i.e. environments created specifically as a gathering point for players.
16 player lobby like Monster Hunter World
Furthermore, we learn that the lobbies will be able to host up to 16 players like Monster Hunter World, a detail that is not so obvious if we consider those for 4 users of Rise, which many players perceived as a step backwards.
“In Monster Hunter Wilds you can connect to a lobby of 16 players online, and all those players will appear simultaneously in Base Campeven if that Base Camp is directly integrated into the open world,” said the Capcom team. “So, as always, it will be possible to visit it, meet your friends, chat and take part in all the classic social dynamics. So don’t worry, those social elements will absolutely be a part of Wilds too.”
Who knows, maybe 16-player lobbies could be a thing possible clue to the return of the Sieges like that of Kulve Taroth and Safi’Jiiva of World and Iceborne, or rather challenging hunts against particularly large and dangerous monsters where all players in the lobby can make their contribution, albeit divided into teams of four hunters. We’ll see.
In the meantime, if you haven’t already done so, we suggest you read our full interview with the Capcom team, reminding you that the launch of Monster Hunter Wilds is set for next year February 28 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC
