Solutions and tricks to better deal with the “problem” represented by the cork attached to the bottles, a measure introduced by European provision
In 2019, a specific measure was introduced by the European directive SUP (Single Use Plastics) which aims to reduce global pollution. A measure that has as its protagonist the cork of the bottles: in fact, by European provision, it is now attached via a plastic flap to the rest of the bottle.
A novelty which, although it may appear rather simple on the surface, has not failed to arouse the most varied reactions from consumers. In fact, there are many Italians who find themselves “live together” with this new measure with many difficulties. In this regard, the Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Matteo Salvinihas ridden the controversy over what has now become a real cork law since July 3rd “anti-loss”.
Solutions and advice on the correct use of the anti-loss cap
Rotate the cap
If the cap does not have any specific hinge, simply rotate it downwards once unscrewed. This way, you won’t have to worry about it annoying your nose or mouth while quenching your thirst.
Zippered cap
If the cap, once unscrewed, is attached to the bottle with a sort of “hinge”, just pull it downwards behind you. In this way, the cap will click slightly and remain at the bottom without disturbing the consumer’s movements.
Cap with double ring
TikTok has proven to be an excellent means of communication through which it is possible to resolve any doubts regarding the use of the new caps.
One user, in particular, published a video showing why these caps are attached to the spout with a double ring. You can notice how when you unscrew the cap, instead of leaving it open at a right angle, just pass it over your mouth through the slot. In this way, the cap will tilt downwards and will not hinder the consumer while he quenches his thirst.
If you don’t notice the double plastic ring, just rotate it downwards.
