Candy’s birth
Candy’s life has always been full of sadness and some tragedies. Candice White was born years before the First World War. She was abandoned in an orphanage in Michigan, in the United States. According to the manga, the parents left a note that said “take care of my baby, her name is Candy”, but according to the series, she was found at the same time as Annie, who when she grew up would be her best friend, and they put her Candy because that’s what her dress said. The surname White derives from how white the snow was where they found it, it is not the surname of their parents.
Candy and Annie’s friendship
Both friends made a promise to never separate and avoid being adopted. Candy was very mischievous, although her antics were well-intentioned. She is characterized by defending justice and the weakest.
Tom’s adoption
When it comes to saying goodbye to Tom, in the anime Candy does everything possible so that an abusive father does not adopt him, since he slapped him. “Don’t let such a family adopt you,” says Candy to the attacked child, while Sister Maria complains to her for rebelling. However, the boy accepts his father, despite the fact that he has disrespected him, which has been questioned by many. On the other hand, in the manga Tom is adopted without any problem involved.
Annie’s farewell
Annie is finally adopted by a wealthy family. In the anime, comments are heard between Miss Pony and Sister Maria, indicating that Annie’s new parents are ready to adopt her. However, she is saddened, but is consoled by Candy, who invites her to be happy. However, Annie was not going to be the original adopted by this family, but Candy, who had refused thinking that they would not offer the same proposal to her best friend later. In the manga, rather, the story of the separation between the two is less dramatic. In the end, Annie leaves, and Candy waits a long time in vain for her accomplice to send her a letter, until finally she sends him a communication asking him not to write her any more. In the manga Annie is more drastic, saying that she wants to lead a rich life and that she feels ashamed for her.
Candy adoption
Candy is adopted late, with more than ten years of age, but she quickly accepts the first proposal they offer her, as she hopes that she can meet Annie and meet her “prince charming”. But her life is a disaster, as Elisa and Neal, her stepbrothers, annoy her all the time and harass her, making her cry all the time. Candy wants to appear to be a wealthy and well-placed girl, like her adoptive family, but her stepmother sees her as one more employee, since she considers her inferior and discovers that she gets along better with her servants. In the manga the situation is worse, since Sister María tells Candy that the family that wants to adopt her actually wants her as a companion.
Stear comes to Candy’s life
Stear, who is Archie’s cousin, discovers Candy when she is abandoned by her stepbrothers, and he was driving a car made by himself. He makes her spend happy moments in the midst of her tragedy, and makes her forget the mistreatment of her family.
Anthony, the prince of Candy
And it is there that she meets Anthony, who is a cousin of her direct adoptive relatives. Candy’s first boyfriend loved growing roses, which is an activity that reminds him of his mother, and before being with her he did not hide his feelings and his illusion to have her with him, since it reminds him of his mother. It is after these encounters that the family holds a party, where Candy enjoys dancing with everyone, but her stepmother gets upset and envies her luck, so she punishes her by sleeping in the stable.
Annie does not know Candy
At another family party, Candy learns that Annie is going to the organized dance. The protagonist of the story does not hide her emotion and tells Kiln, her pet, the happy news. However, when she sees her, Annie pretends she doesn’t know her, and it is there that Candy manages to understand many things.
Candy meets Albert
Candy becomes depressed, and decides to escape in a boat, thinking that she could return to Pony’s home. However, she is found by Albert, who invites her to camp and tells her stories. It is there that Anthony finds her, and despite not having believed him when her stepbrothers got her in trouble, he feigned indignant concern and slapped her.
Anthony’s end
It is then that he meets Mr. García on his trip to Mexico. In the anime he beats him because he gave his pet water, but in the manga this is worse, since he tries to rape her. After going through tragedies, Candy is adopted by Mr. William, the patriarch of Anthony’s family, so she is freed from the Leagan clan. Anthony finally invites her to meet his whole family, for this he decides to do a horse riding show; However, as Anthony and his horse ride into a trap, he falls and dies.
Terry, her second love
After the tragedy, Candy returns to Pony’s Home as a maid, and Archie visits her to propose that she study in London and forget about all the problems. Candy, after thinking about it a lot, finally accepts. It is upon his arrival that he meets Terry, who would be the second love of his life.
